| The Improve Partnership • Improve is one of a network of 25 Sector Skills Councils tasked with driving up the skills of the UK workforce.
• Since its licensing in 2004, Improve has formed an effective partnership with FDSS and this has meant that the local industry has had a national voice in training affairs related to the Agri-food sector.
• FDSS and Improve share directors and expertise as required. Furthermore the Business Development Manager of FDSS, Geoff Lamb, also represents Improve as Operations Manager for Northern Ireland.
• Through the Sector Skills Agreement Process, which involved employers and all other stakeholders, 8 different areas for action have been distilled. These are as follows:
1. Careers development – ensuring we have a smart food and drink sector 2. Promoting Productivity – ensuring a competitive and sustainable sector 3. Flexible Qualifications 4. Training, Learning and Development 5. Information, Advice and Guidance 6. Skills as a Strategic Business Driver 7. A Future in Food – ensuring that potential employees are aware of the sector’s potential 8. Networking for Success
