Training Courses
All Food and Drink Sector Skills courses are approved by the Chartered Institute for Environmental Health and can be taken as part of a group at FDSS offices in Belfast or by arrangement at other venues/premises.
Level 4 Award in Food Safety Management for Manufacturing
Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering This six-day course is designed for those working in medium to large-scale businesses that have responsibility for the management of food hygiene issues. It is also an appropriate technical qualification for those wishing to apply to deliver Level 2 training.
| Level 3 Award in Food Safety Supervision for Manufacturing
Level 3 Award in Supervision Food Safety in Catering This three-day intermediate level course is designed for those working in all food businesses at supervisory level. This includes ‘traditional’ supervisors and team leaders, but also anyone who needs a broad understanding of food hygiene as part of their work.
| Level 2 Award in Food Safety This one-day basic level course will enable food handlers to operate in accordance with Food Safety Regulations. It makes people aware of the risk that they, the surroundings and their practices have on the safety of the food that they handle.
| Level 3 Award in HACCP for Food Manufacturing This course is designed for managers and supervisory staff responsible for the development of a food safety management system based on the Codex principles of HACCP in a food manufacturing setting. This qualification may also be beneficial for those responsible for implementing, contributing or reviewing HACCP systems.
| Professional Trainers Certificate This is a three-day course which provides a certificate and assessment opportunity for candidates who undertake a short programme, covering the basic skills involved in the delivery and design of training courses to groups. After participating in the skills sessions each candidate will be required to plan and deliver a training session, which is observed and assessed.
